Scrum
Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development methodology for managing product development.

Senior Responsible Officer (SRO)
Senior Executive or Sponsor for a project or Programme. Ultimately responsible for the realisation of benefits. In BRM, ultimately accountable for benefit realisation.
Service
A logical representation of a repeatable business activity that has a specific outcome. A service is self-contained, maybe composed of other services, and is a “black box”
Sprint
A sprint (or iteration) is the basic unit of development in Scrum. The sprint is a “time boxed” effort; that is, it is restricted to a specific duration. The duration is fixed in advance for each sprint and is normally between one week and one month.
Sprint Planning
A core team exercise to estimate the amount of development and testing effort required to deliver a completed a backlog item.
Sprint Retrospective
Core team members discuss the past Sprint to identify areas for possible process improvements.
Stand-up (daily Scrum Meeting)
A daily 15 minute ‘standing up’ meeting by the core project members to present an update on progress and or impediments which require resolution.
Story / User Story
A user story is a very high-level definition of a requirement, containing just enough information so that the developers can produce a reasonable estimate of the effort to implement it.
Typically, a sentence or two that describes who uses the story, the goal they are trying to accomplish, and any additional information that may be critical to understanding the scope of the story, including acceptance criteria. May also include NFRs.
Storyboard
A visual depiction of backlog cards organised by their current status, showing a left to right progression through the team’s process, that is either ‘not started’, ‘in progress’ and ‘done’.
